Connecticut has updated its bottle redemption laws. Here’s what customers need to know:
🚫 You Cannot Redeem:
- Containers purchased outside of Connecticut
- Containers that were already redeemed
- Containers with damaged or unreadable barcodes
Returning these may result in fines.
📋 ID Required for Large Returns
If you return more than 1,000 containers in one day, you must provide:
- Valid photo ID
- Vehicle license plate number
- Certification that the containers were purchased in Connecticut
No more than 4,000 containers per person per day (except verified nonprofits).
💰 Increased Fines
Violations can result in fines starting at $500 and increasing for repeat offenses.
